Pamela Gellen

Of Counsel

Ms. Gellen, Of Counsel with Barker Castro & Steinback LLC, joins us with a wealth of experience and knowledge. Formerly one of the founding partners of Lowis & Gellen LLP, Ms. Gellen has a wealth of experience in litigation in state and federal courts including many jury trials. She has participated in multi-district litigation, class actions and other mass tort litigation. She has argued appeals in state and federal court. She concentrates her practice in the defense of medical practice and medical products cases, as well as other tort matters.

In 2015 Ms. Gellen was named as one of the Top 10 Illinois Women Civil Defense Lawyers, based on a survey of Illinois lawyers. She received a 2015 Jury Verdict Reporter award for trial lawyer excellence. Chicago Lawyer magazine has named Ms. Gellen one of Chicago’s Top Twenty Tort Defense Lawyers.

Ms. Gellen has lectured widely on legal matters and has participated in panel discussions. She has been a guest lecturer in Fred Lane’s Trial Advocacy course, and at Kent Law School, lecturing in a program for an advanced degree in healthcare administration. She has been a faculty member of the Illinois Defense Counsel Trial Advocacy College. Her lectures have included topics of interest to the Illinois Association of Hospital Attorneys, and the Association of Law and Medicine. She has given surgical and medical Grand Rounds at several Chicago area hospitals. She is a Cook County recognized mediator and has participated in Alternative Resolution proceedings as a mediator, arbitrator and advocate.
